Bear Claw Lodge, Kispiox Valley, British Columbia, is a 15,000 square foot post-and-beam luxury lodge located on the world-famous Kispiox River, just 1.5 hours drive north of Smithers, BC. Gorgeous 22 foot carved First Nations totem poles welcome you as you enter the foyer, set behind the massive, three-story river rock fireplace. Snow-capped Baldy Mountain dominates the view from the dining room windows, a favourite destination for heliskiers, just eight minutes by air.
When guests enter Bear Claw Lodge, a pair of 22-foot tall, hand-carved totem poles greets them in the foyer as a reminder of the First Nations heritage that fills the valley. The three-story fireplace was created using rocks polished by the Kispiox River. The scent of cedar mixes with the aroma of fresh baked bread and other delicacies from the kitchen, which is also a popular gathering place.
Floor to ceiling dining room windows look out at Baldy Mountain, a mere eight minute flight away for winter’s heli-skiing guests. There are cozy lounge areas spread through out the lodge, a pool table, entertainment screen for movie nights, and a large communal dining table for sharing stories and celebrating new friends.

Kispiox Valley, where one of the world’s largest strain of wild steelhead salmon spawns in pristine mountain fresh streams, and grizzly and black bear trample paths in the mossy forest floor. This is a place where mountain goats scale the craggy flanks of snow capped peaks, and the call of the wolf echoes through old growth forests.
Throughout the spring and summer (May to August), Bear Claw Lodge offers a range of outdoor experiences including guided hiking, horseback riding, river rafting, and mountain pack trips. Generally spent on the Kispiox River, salmon season at Bear Claw Lodge is definitely something for the whole family.
With the largest heli-ski tenure in North America at 9,525 square kilometres of pristine wilderness, all skill levels from intermediate to expert can be accommodated for. Heli-skiers and snowboarders leave the lodge by chopper to the nearby Skeena mountain range, minutes away, for fresh, untouched powder!
